Hi Team,
One of the customers would like to move their online database to different server to increase the performance, we would like to understand how to move the existing online database from server A to server B, what are all the things to considered pre installation, post installation procedure, etc.
Expectation is not losing the data and after the database movement the system should behave as it worked before.
Thanks
Hi Suman,
Moving the database is a standard process that depends on your deployment method.
If you’re using containers, the process is straightforward:
Backup: Back up your existing databases.
New Environment: Create a new environment that points to the new database server.
Packages: Provide your database backups within the customization packages folder, along with other essential packages for UI and business logic.
Documentation: For more details, refer to the copy environment guide.
If you’re using VMs, the process is similar but uses the ISO setup. Depending on your MES version, you may need some additional manual steps, such as updating connection strings or configurations in specific files. Please open a support ticket with your MES version details for a specific checklist.
Regardless of your deployment method, always perform the migration on a staging environment first. This will help you:
Validate the required downtime.
Create a step-by-step checklist of the migration procedure.
Ensure that your customizations don’t require any specific migration tasks.
